Dragon Boat BC Legacy Gala honours festival founder

Party on the waterfront in a front row seat to barrier-free race action at the 5th Annual Dragon Boat BC Legacy Gala from 5 to 9 pm on Friday, June 23. For the first time, the gala coincides with the opening races of the three-day Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival.

Raise a glass to cheer on all-access, survivor, and youth teams as they race to remove barriers, win glory, and raise money for their favourite causes. Celebrate the passion and potential of local teams while enjoying top California wines and West Coast cuisine. Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the races on False Creek, including the inaugural Barrier Free Canada Cup and the annual Survivor Showdown between duelling breast cancer and prostate cancer survival teams. Bid on exceptional auction items specially selected to create inclusive opportunities for all of society.

Tickets to the 5th Annual Dragon Boat BC Legacy Gala are $125, plus GST; to purchase, please email [email protected]. Gala proceeds benefit the Milton K. Wong Legacy Project.

Inspiring Youth

As a tribute to festival founder Milton Wong, the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival Society (known as Dragon Boat BC) developed the Milton K. Wong Legacy Project and Junior Paddler Program to support outreach programs for inner city children and youth. The Legacy Project reflects Dragon Boat BC’s belief that all children and youth should have the chance to enjoy the positive benefits of sports. The Junior Paddler Program removes financial barriers and provides access to as many children and young people as possible, encouraging teamwork and a lifelong love of sport.  The Dragon Boat BC Legacy Gala supports that founding vision.
