Explore Vancouver from the water, and take off from our docks in Olympic Village.
Rentals include boat and paddle use, safety equipment, and personal flotation device. Kayaking is easy to learn and is great for beginners. You will be given a brief use overview prior to your session. Prices are subject to applicable taxes. Reservations accepted at register.dragonboatbc.ca. If you have a gift card, please email [email protected] for assistance.
Coupon or special request bookings must be confirmed at least 1 day in advance of the requested time by emailing [email protected]. Same day special request bookings are subject to staff approval.

What to Wear
No special clothing is required for rentals. We suggest layering your clothing so that you can add or take off layers depending on the weather. Ideal clothing includes:
Location
Check in at the red tent on the docks along the seawall at Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver. If you are taking transit, Main Street Science World is the nearest stop. Visit translink.ca to plan your trip here. There is free street parking in the area and there is pay parking underground.
Get Ready
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time so that you can use the washrooms and water bottle refill stations inside the community centre before coming down to the dock. We strongly recommend leaving your valuables at home. We do not have bag storage available!
Check In
Plan to check-in around 10 minutes before your scheduled start time. Help speed up your check in process by having a waiver pre-completed and printed out to give to our staff. Youth aged 18 or under are required to have a parent/guardian sign their waiver. Visit dragonzone.ca/downloads to get your waiver.
Youth aged 6-12 must be in the same boat as a responsible adult (tandem boats). Youth 12 or over must be closely supervised by a responsible adult. Staff may require stricter ratios or not allow youth to participate if they do not feel it is safe.
Help speed up your check in process by having a waiver pre-completed and printed out to give to our staff. Complete waivers are required as a condition of participating in kayaking activities.
Adult Waiver

To be completed by each individual under 19 with their parent or guardian.
All visitors are required to follow our current COVID-19 requirements:
Paddlers who are not pass holders may be required to provide valid photo ID and a credit card as a deposit while you are on the water.
Your reservation time starts at the time booked. Please note that part of your reservation time will be used for a safety and boat orientation delivered by our staff .Please ensure you return by the end of your time, as other users will be waiting for the boat. Late rental returns are subject to penalties as outlined in your booking confirmation.
All paddlers must wear an approved PFD while in the boat at all times. Paddlers are not allowed to take off their PFD at any time while on the water. Each kayak will also have all the required safety equipment. You will be given a brief kayak familiarization before you depart.
All children under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult. At least one person in a tandem kayak and canoe must be 18 years of age
It is highly recommended that you bring your cell phone with you in case of an emergency.
The following are prohibited activities. In case of breach of these rules, your session may be terminated immediately without any refund or credit provided.
In the event of a discrepancy between the terms on this page and on the reservation portal, the information on the reservation portal will be deemed authoritative.

Learn to paddle a kayak with our experienced and certified kayaking instructors. Our Intro to Kayaking course gives first-time paddlers the fundamental skills and knowledge to paddle in protected waters. Basic paddling skills and water safety are some of the topics covered. Paddlers do not need to know how to swim, but must wear the supplied PFDs. No experience is necessary! Minimum age 12. Youth aged 12-18 should be accompanied by an adult.
Programs include guided session with an instructor, access to equipment including a PFD and paddle, and access to the boats. Private lessons available for groups; please email [email protected] for additional assistance.

Whether you’re hitting the water year-round or paddling to soak in the sun, we offer a pass that lines up with your paddling season. Kayak passes allow you to take a single kayak or SUP for up to 2 hours/day, and includes access to safety equipment, paddles, and PFD. Reservations are required by midnight for slots up to 1 week out on our online reservation system; same day drop ins are generally not possible. Please carefully read all club policies and rules before heading out on the water.

Age pricing eligibility is determined on your registration date. Passholders must prove their eligibility for age-based rates on request; passes may be suspended/cancelled if eligibility cannot be provided. Junior and novice users must be supervised on the water as per our operating protocols unless otherwise advised in writing.
General Rules and Procedure

If using a tandem boat, both paddlers must be current passholders, or fee charged for guest. A fee will be charged for guest in other boats, or going for more than the pass allocated time. Longer paddle times must be pre-booked; any late returns are subject to penalty fees. Passes are suspended, and no reservations will be honoured or be allowed to be made until fees are fully paid.
Late arrivals may not be able to be accommodated, and forfeit any time between their booked time and time of arrival. They must return to the docks at their originally scheduled time of return.
Please ensure you return by the end of your time, as other users will be waiting for the boat. Late rental returns will be subject to penalties.

At least one person in a tandem kayak and canoe must be 18 years of age. Youth between the ages of 12-18 must be closely supervised by their parent/guardian while on the water. Youth aged 7-12 must be in the same boat as their parent/guardian while on the water (i.e. in a tandem boat).

Refunds and Transfers
Passes are non-refundable and non-transferrable for any reason. Access to the docks, boats, equipment, or other benefits may be restricted for any reason throughout the year including for safety or maintenance purposes. No refunds or credits will be provided in these cases.
We reserve the right to end or cancel your pass for any reason including for safety reasons, disruptive or inappropriate conduct, failure to respect reservation policies, or failure to abide by our rules and policies including waiver submission, without refund.
